Steps to success in Math…..
1) Do your homework every day!
2) More important than doing your homework is checking your homework. (Sometimes the answers are in the back of the book, sometimes I’ll give you the answers, but they are always available to you.) There is a reason why checking your homework is more important than doing your homework. If you do your homework wrong and don’t know that you did it wrong, you will make the same mistakes on your test. That means the time spent on HW was wasted time. Time is precious, don't waste it!
3) You should grade your homework everyday! Be harsh, even if you “only missed a negative sign”, mark it wrong. Keep track of these HW grades on your assignment sheet. When test time comes, you’ll quickly be able to see where you need to spend your time.
4) If you have more than one or two silly mistakes on your homework, you need some extra help or more practice. You can:
5) Before a quiz or test you must practice! If you only watch me or someone else do the homework problems, then you are not getting any better! To learn math you MUST move a pencil and fill up some paper! A student who claims they studied math, but did not fill up any paper, is only fooling himself and wasting time. So, get practicing by filling up some paper! You won’t regret it!
6) Make sure to practice different types of problems. Usually homework consists of similar problems, whereas tests have different topics mixed together. You should practice for tests by doing all types of problems from the unit in random order.

- Practice more on your own. Usually if you got question 10 wrong, that means you can practice 9 and 11. Groups of questions are usually similar.
- Get together with a friend who feels more confident in the material.
- Come see me for help most days during Lunch.
- Or all of the above!
